Quick Update

Hello everyone! This last week has been so busy! I'm finally back in classes and my schedule is great! I get done at noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays! So nice! Plus I get two shifts at work (not mornings! :D ) and I love my Thursday night class- it's Fashion and Glamour Photography! I love photographing people! :)

This weekend was Devin's 21st birthday. Oh My God. I am still exhausted! We went out Friday at midnight and then again on Saturday at 9:30 - 2:30 in the morning. When we got home, he was definitely feeling it. I stayed up until 4 am to make sure he didn't fall asleep in the bathroom and then I didn't get out of bed until 2 pm on Sunday. And I'm still really tired, haha. Needless to say, it was quite the wild weekend. There's this bar here on Main Street that has a burrito bar and we realized that the guy who makes them totally lives upstairs from us with his girlfriend and their five chihuahuas. What a coincidence!

Well, I'm heading back to work now! I hope you're all having a great week!

How I Spent My Saturday

I was real productive today guys. Seriously. The most productive person ever.

Not really. I'm not gonna lie, I was in my pajamas until around 5pm messing around on Polyvore and watching Devin play Battlefield 3. And then I decided I actually needed to wear a bra and made some rainbow cupcakes. And now I'm watching How I Met Your Mother on Netflix. Still in the pajama pants. Probably will be until I decide to work out.
I think I've been reading too many Seventeen magazines. Also, I've been spending a lot of time pining away for warmer weather, as seen in the outfits I've created. Man, classes need to start soon.

So way back when, my roommates, aka Devin and Leah and I all decided we were going to make rainbow cupcakes with chocolate frosting. I was at work one night when they texted me that they were going to make the cupcakes and that I could have one when I got back. I got back and the box was open, and a bowl was out on the table but the cupcakes were nowhere near being made. I ask, "What happened to the cupcakes?" The response: "Yeah, we didn't feel like making them anymore."
Eventually, someone opened the frosting and started eating it, so tonight when I was making the cuppycakes, I was able to frost three of them with the actual chocolate frosting. So the rest have hazelnut chocolate spread on it. Not Nutella, but this stuff that tastes exactly the same, with 20 fewer calories called Nutkao. Super delicious, but I will limit myself to one each day. Or two at the absolute most.

On a completely semi-random note - as I was uploading the photo of the cupcakes, I found this pretty one of the Red Cedar River right after it had snowed. And since it's still snowy and cold here, it's totally relevant.

Alright, tomorrow I will actually be productive, considering classes start on Monday! Plus I have work on Monday too! I will finally be busy and my life will have meaning again (just kidding, my live already has meaning, I've just been bored). I shall leave you all with this. :)

(Couldn't find the actual video, alas.)

Modivational Anger

So it's been a little while since I posted last. I've been super busy with work the last few days. Our Student Center is re-opening after a huge renovation, so I've had many days full of training, taking promo photos and organizing our equipment.
Today while on our lunch breaks, a lot of us discussed how we wanted to lose weight and get back in shape. This has been something I've been half-assed trying to do since my freshman year. It really hit me that I haven't been trying hard when one of my coworkers said, "Everyone's losing weight," and then proceeded to point out two girls and tell them how great they looked. I know she wasn't doing it intentional, because to be honest, it sure doesn't seem like I'm trying all that hard.
It made me mad at myself - for making excuses and just not doing it. Needless to say, I got really pissed off and channeled that into a workout tonight. And now that I've done it, I feel so much better. Except the fact that it's nearly 1 am and I'm not sleeping cause I have tons of energy, I feel great. Maybe I just need to get angry to motivate myself. Maybe I need to be like those mean personal trainers, only with myself.
I guess we'll see how this goes. But I will not give up this time.

A Wednesday Wishlist : Tattoo Edition

I'm starting to get more and more interested in tattoos and piercings and what not. Maybe it's the middle school punk in me. (I was such a poser in middle school, hahaha. If I was a few years younger, I totally would have been one of those scene girls.) I used to have my ears pierced back in seventh grade, but they've long since closed up. I like the look of gauges, but I'm too much of a baby to do it. I do want some tattoos. And I know they're going to hurt, but I really want to suck it up because I know that I will enjoy them. Here are a few of my ideas:

1. What: Two Fleur-de-lis's
Where: inside of my heels, just below the ankle, one on each side
Meaning: A reminder of my time at camp and all the wonderful people I've met there that have made an impact on my life and how it has changed me. Since I've started working there, I have become more outgoing and more confident and I'm hoping that this summer that these traits will continue to grow for me.

2.  What: Flying birds, with lyrics "take these broken wings and learn to fly"
     Where: Shoulder
Meaning: Alright, so this isn't the most creative tattoo, as I've heard of other people (no one I know) having it. But I've wanted something like this for a while, as I reminder to not let everything get me down.

By Corinne Alexandra
3. What: A beautiful work of art by an artist I like
    Where: Upper arm
Meaning: There really isn't much of one, except my love of art. I stumbled upon this illustration by Corinne Alexandra and I'm in love! I wanted to find some sort of illustration of a girl with antlers and this one definitely caught my eye.

4. What: Wisconsin outline, with a heart in the Northwest
Where: I have no idea, haha
Meaning: Just a reminder of where I'm from and where my heart belongs.

Well, there you go. Let's see if I actually get any of these, or if I chicken out majorly, haha. I'm hoping to get those Fleur-de-lis's this summer. We'll just have to wait and see!

What I wore - sort of / Or - Always charge your camera batteries

So, last night I was going on a date with the boy. I got all dressed up really cute and decided I wanted to take a photo of my outfit. So I set up my tripod and get the shot ready, grab my remote and stand in front of the camera. I point the remote at the camera and press the shutter button and..... nothing happens. I'm thinking to myself, "WTF the camera's on." I go to check it and the battery is just low enough that you can do everything else with the camera except open the actual shutter and take a picture. Oops. Fail on  my part.
So here's the polyvore version of my outfit. It's mostly accurate, except that's not the exact sweater, skirt, shoes or tights. The necklace and dress are the same. But you get the idea.

A thru Z - About Me

So I know I just posted an About Me recently, but I found this on Samantha's blog and it looked pretty fun!

A. Age: 21

B. Bed size: Queen size at the apartment, full at home

C. Chore that you hate: Laundry - mainly because we don't have free laundry at our apartment. Thankfully, our house for next year does so only one more semester of rolls of quarters!

D. Dogs: Are amazing. I have two at home that I miss dearly when I'm away at school and love to death. I can't wait to get one of my own.

E. Essential start to your day:
Washing my face, brushing my teeth and something to eat. I have to be at work sometimes as early as 7 am so some mornings I go without these until I get back from my first class! Yuck. It's a bad habit. Thankfully, now that this semester's done, Thursday's will be my only early morning!

F. Favorite color: I really like green, turquoise and purple.

G. Gold or Silver: Both, though sometimes some golds can look real tacky.

H. Height: 5' 1/2" - I'm super short!

I. Instruments you play: I played clarinet since 6th grade, though I haven't touched it in a few years. It definitely needs to be repadded before I play it again!

J. Job title: Events Services Technician - basically, I set up events around campus. Oh and I guess you could say I'm a student, too. And a camp counselor in the summer.

K. Kids: Ehhhh... not for me. I'm not really sure if I want them or not.

L. Live: Menomonie, WI - originally from Chippewa Falls, WI

M. Mother’s name: Nina

N. Nicknames: Em, Krabby Patty (Devin calls me this when I'm grumpy)

O. Overnight hospital stays: Never had one, though I was in the E.R. for an ovarian cyst and almost had to have surgery.

P. Pet peeves: When people act like they know everything, or very judgmental people.

Q. Quote from a movie: "
This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time." - Fight Club

R. Right or left handed: Right handed

S. Siblings: Older sister - Erika, and, little brother - Michael

U. Underwear: I love the kinds from Victoria's Secret Pink. And the free coupons don't hurt either.

V. Vegetable you hate: Celery- I don't like those weird fibers. It's okay chopped up in salads or in soups though

W. What makes you run late: Everything! Haha! I have a tendency to always be a little late! I need to break that habit!

X. X-Rays you’ve had: Chest - I had bronchitis in 8th grade and they had to see what my lungs looked like. Not fun. I've also had a tiny camera stuck in my nose before, not really an x-ray but still pretty weird.

Y. Yummy food that you make: I can make Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscana soup! And I'm sort of "famous" in my family for my triple chocolate fudge. :)

Z. Zoo animal: Giraffe

Goodby 2011!

I can't believe it's already 2012. I swear my life is going by so quickly. Last night I went to Devin's aunt's house along with him, his parents and my friend/former roommate Brittany. It wasn't too wild or anything. We had homemade hibachi beef and chicken with yummy wine slush and played party games like Catchphrase all night. We sure are wild partiers, ha ha. Today has been an incredibly lazy day. I woke up at 12:30. All three of us went to the family restaurant in town for some lunch and now I'm just lounging here at Devin's place on my laptop. Such a lazy start to 2012.
Oh- I'm also planning on starting a 365 photo project now that I have a tripod and an external flash. I should probably take my first photo at some point for that.
